Ailo Gaup wins ahead of both French Remi Bizouard and Brice Izzo
With the first contest after the summer break the NIGHT of the Jumps started in Metz into it’s second half of the season. The IFMXF premiere in Metz was the 7th round of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship.
With Ailo Gaup the current leader of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships started. Next to him the French riders Remi Bizouard, Ludovic Guillou, Brice Izzo, brother of Romain Izzo and the 17 year old Davis Rinaldo. Romain Izzo had to pass after a crash within the week. His free place was given to German Freddy Peters. The two Germans Lukas Weis and Fabian Bauersachs, Norway Oystein Kjorstad, Swedish Fredrik Johansson, Belgium Jimmy Verburgh and Libor Podmol from Czech Republic completed the field of riders.
The qualification in Metz got into a backflip try out. Whip Flip by Fabian Bauersachs - Underflip by Ailo Gaup - Heelclicker Flip by Freddy Peters, Oystein Kjorstad, Ailo Gaup and Fredrik Johansson – Cordova Flip by Libor Podmol - Superman Backflip by Freddy Peters, Oystein Kjorstad, Brice Izzo and Ailo Gaup – Tsunami Indian Air Flip by Remi Bizouard – Superman Indian Air Flip by Brice Izzo and Cliffhanger Flip by Ailo Gaup. In this amazing Backflip-Battle Remi Bizouard, Ailo Gaup, Brice Izzo, Libor Podmol, Lukas Weis and Fredrik Johansson made it into the final.
German Lukas Weis won the Whip contest ahead of French Ludovic Guilou. And the German won the Highest Air with 6,20 meter ahead of Libor with 76,00 meter.
Fredrik Johansson opened the final. As first IFMXF rider he started with a Four-Stroke 250 ccm-Bike. Massive Sound but hart for the track. With Whip, 9-O-Clock Indian Air, Whip Backflip, Sidewinder Indian Air, 1-Hand Flip, Tsunami, 9-O-Clock, Stripper to 1-Hand-Landing, Surfer and Heelclicker Flip he got 239 points and ended up 4th.
German Lukas Weis was next. Surfer to Heelclicker, Whip, Airwalk, Cliffhanger, No-Foot Backflip, 9-O-Clock, Backflip, Double Seatgrab, Sidewinder Indian Air and 1-Hand Take Of to Seatgrab Indian Air to 1-Hand-Landing. That was close but not enough to beat Johansson. With 237 points he got 5th.
Libor Podmol had problems in his final run. 1-Hand-Take-Of to Seatgrab Indian Air, Tsunami, No-Hand Flip, Flintstone, 1-Hand Flip, Rock Solid Indian Air, Whip Flip, a missed Cordova Flip, Cliffhanger to No-Hand-Landing and a crash at his Cliffhanger Backflip. With 196 points he only reached 6th position.
Then it was up to Brice Izzo, IFMXF Newcomer and brother of Romain Izzo. With 1-Hand Sidewinder Indian Air, No-Hand Backflip, Nac Flip to 1-Hand-Landing, Rock Solid, Cliffhanger, Whip, Heelclicker Flip, Superman Indian Air Backflip, Cordova Flip and a Superman Flip in Double-Up. At his IFMXF premier he reached 290 points and third position.
„Iceman“ Ailo Gaup was highly motivated, to defend his leadership in the World Championship. Heelclicker Flip, Whip, Superman Flip, 9-O-Clock, Holyman, Cordova Flip, Can Can Flip to 1-Hand-Landing, Cliffhanger, Heelclicker Flip, Underflip to 1-Hand-Landing. 305 points meant first position so far.
So it was on Remi to win the French FMX-Worldcup. He started with a injured shoulder. 1-Hand Seatgrab Scorpion Style, 9-O-Clock, Scorpion Tsunami Indian Air, No-Hand Sideshow, Heelclicker Flip, Whip, No-Hand Backflip, Rock Solid to Seatgrab and a Scorpion Tsunami Backflip in the Double Up. He missed one trick and could only reach second position (290 points).
With this victory Ailo Gaup extended his lead in the FIM Freestyle MX World Championships with 113 points. Eight points behind French Remi Bizouard follows. Vice World Champion Libor Podmol with current 88 points is 3rd ahead of Romain Izzo with 76 points.
